You are an international spy
Complete Your Mission Without Blowing Your Cover!

The following review was written by John Chaneski in the June 1997 issue of Games magazine.

Deception. Suspicion. Treachery. The perfect ingredients for an evening at home around the dining room table.

Your colored ID card identifies you as a French, German, Spanish, Italian, American, or Russian spy. This information is For Your Eyes Only, of course.Your goals are to unmask your opponents while attempting to purchase and otherwise obtain the four spy-type items of your country's color - a password, a disguise, a code book, and a key - and arrive safely at your embassy before being exposed. You can buy objects by landing on the appropriate board spaces as you move around the board according to die rolls. You can also confiscate them from other players.

You keep track of what you collect on a scoreboard in front of you. Because all scoreboards are visible to everyone, any operative worth his cyanide capsule will gather objects from several countries to keep everyone guessing. Chance plays a part, as you will sometimes acquire an object as a gift or lose one to a lucky opponent. Psst! Here's a tip: "Move" cards, which let you advance a specific number of spaces instead of rolling the die, are extremely handy: save them and pounce when the time is right.

Instead of moving, you can use a turn to guess a player's identity. If you're right, that player is out of the game; but if you're wrong, you're the one who disappears! Only in the Spy Eliminator space in the Spy Alley area can you point a finger without risk.

Deceptively simple and surprisingly intense, Spy Alley keeps you on the edge of your seat. Has my cover been blown? With every move you make, another chance you take. Who am I? you ask. The name's Chaneski... John Chaneski
